About Consult Health
As an experienced and fully qualified, (BACP Accredited UKCP Reg.) Counselling Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist, I provide client-centred therapy within a supportive and caring environment with an emphasis on confidentiality.
Sessions include Integrative Psychotherapy, which embraces a unifying therapeutic approach that affirms the inherent value and needs of each Individual. It responds appropriately and effectively to the individual requirements of the person at an emotional/feeling, behavioural, cognitive, and physiological level, while addressing the presenting issues.
I work within a time-based client-centred counselling approach and the outline for counselling treatment is established in an initial assessment session and in a collaborative way. The therapeutic focus is on the relationship between our thinking, how this contributes to how we feel, and our corresponding behaviour in situations – for example: for a person who has been bullied in the past, a work situation with a lot of rigid demands attached to it, could be very challenging as they may ‘trigger’ old self-negating experiences and beliefs. Sessions support the client in recognising their triggers, understanding where they came from, resolving them and establishing more supportive ways of thinking, thereby improving feelings and creating an improved approach to relationships and situations in daily life.
For difficult memories or past experiences, I provide EMDR sessions. Scientific research has established EMDR as effective in treatment of past disturbing experiences/memories that may continue to distress the individual or cause a block in approaches to situations and individual relationships. This reprocessing of negative self beliefs or disturbing memories allows healing at a physiological, emotional and thought processing level to enable the individual to adaptively respond to situations and relationships in the present.
I work with a client to establish the most important issues of difficulty in the individual’s present circumstances and/or to clarify therapeutic goals. We then work together to establish any blocks, unhelpful memories, or underlying thought patterns which contribute to being inhibited from moving forward, or to facilitate the client in achieving outlined goals.
I work from a private practice in SALE, South Manchester and also work p/t in an NHS Setting and as a therapist for various Health Insurance companies. I am a published author and successful feature writer on emotional & psychological health.
